QAT-ARKiv invests 4 million euros in mobile solutions provider Siruna
The Board of Directors of QAT-ARKiv decided to participate in Siruna, for which EUR 4,000,000 was reserved.
Siruna offers several solutions regarding mobile development. The Fully Managed Solution offers developers a fully supported platform that allows them to easily create mobile web applications for their clients. Siruna’s Mobile Professional Services combine expertise and technology to supply advanced, tailor-made mobile projects. Siruna’s strategy is mainly based on Partners offering end-to-end mobile development using Siruna’s technology.
Siruna’s technology makes it possible to smoothly convert conventional websites into mobile websites that can be accessed by any mobile device supporting mobile web browsing. Siruna also decided to make available its source code to the development community, although the company retains its traditional, commercial solutions. This instantly turned it into the first available open source mobile application gateway.
Founder Frank Gielen: “Without a considerable community, it is impossible for our technology to reach its full potential. We also use open source systems ourselves and we wanted to give something back.” Interesting applications developed with open source code will also find their way back to Siruna’s commercial solutions.
With QAT-ARKiv as lead investor, founders Frank Gielen and Bart Clarysse gained a solid investment partner for an international breakthrough. Other investors are iVenture (IBBT seed fund), Vinnof (PMV) and Baekeland (UGent spin-off fund).
Luc van der Biest and Luc Kindt reside in the Siruna Board of Directors on behalf of QAT-Arkiv.
