Siruna is a managed solution provider for mobile internet websites. We help companies bring their online content to any type of mobile device. Our approach is based on sound Open Source technology.
History
Siruna was originally founded as Mobixx in 2007 by Frank Gielen, PhD and Bart Clarysse, PhD. It is a spin-off of IBBT and the University of Ghent (Belgium). We are VC funded and currently have offices in Ghent and London. We also have representatives in China, India, Dubai and the US.
Siruna made its technology available to the Open Source community in 2008. This means that the Siruna software is available for non-commercial purposes as well as for business applications. We are truly Open Source and offer our products on a Dual Licensing basis.

Management Team
Frank Gielen, PhD held a number of technical and international management positions in the telecom industry and at high tech start-ups. In 1998, he joined Tellium, a US based start-up company in optical network technology, as the executive director of software engineering. He returned to Europe in 2001 as the CEO for Tellium EMEA. In addition, he is part time professor of software entrepreneurship at the University of Ghent.
Bart Clarysse, PhD was a professor in innovation and entrepreneurship at the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School before joining Imperial College Business School in 2007 as a head of the entrepreneurship-division. In parallel to his academic career, he had been involved in the creation and growth of a number of software start-ups both as a director and co-founder. He was also a partner and co-founder of Vlerick Venture Coaching, a virtual incubator for high-tech start-ups financed by KPMG and Vlerick Leuven Gent Mangement School.
Johan Thys has been responsible for various operational management positions in the high tech industry. His last position was VP production technologies in Tele Atlas, the world leader for creating digital maps, recently acquired by Tom Tom. He holds a degree of engineering and industrial management from the University of Louvain.
Investors
With QAT-ARKiv as lead investor, Siruna has gained a solid investment in 2009. Other investors are iVenture (IBBT seed fund), Vinnof (PMV) and Baekeland (UGent spin-off fund)
